How are the Trustees elected?

0

As the board is a governmental entity, responsible to and under the supervision of Gallatin County, the county organizes the elections. Trustees hold their positions for three years. The positions are staggered, so slots open yearly. When it comes time for elections, the board posts public notices in the Bozeman Daily Chronicle and sends out e-mails to GRR property owners, usually in January. Interested parties must file suitable paperwork with the county, usually by the third week in February. If an election is warranted, the county will mail ballots to homeowners who are registered to vote in Gallatin Valley; the ballots are usually due the first week in May, and results are announced as soon thereafter as practicable. In the event that there are fewer candidates than there are open slots, the county has the option of appointing a trustee from within the ranks of registered voters who live within the fire district.
