How are the sideboards calculated?
Sideboards are calculated by adding up the catches of vessels subject to sideboards during 1996-2000 and dividing that by the catches of all vessels in that fishery to yields a sideboard ratio (e.g., 0.10 or 10% of the Western Gulf of Alaska pollock fishery). The sideboard ratio is multiplied by the total allowable catch for that year. If the TAC is divided into seasons, the sideboard limit is also divided into seasons.
