How are the road numbers allocated?
The number is based on the distance of each rural property’s entrance from the start of the road. This enables certain location of a property entrance. For example, a property entrance that is 5,080 metres from the start of a road and on the right hand side in direction of travel becomes number 508 [the number is derived by dividing the distance in metres by 10]. The number is rounded up or down so that odd numbers are on the left hand side of the road and even on the right (driving away from the nominated starting point of the road).
