How are the results for all tested grades in a school combined to determine AYP results?
Beginning in 2007, ED required us to combine results together across all tested grades in a school for each subject. Results for grades whose uniform bar target are not the same are combined via a proficiency index calculation. Each cell which has an AYP determination made now has a proficiency index calculated for it. The proficiency index identifies how far above or below the target each group was. A proficiency index of zero or higher means a cell made AYP. More information on how the proficiency index calculations are performed may be found at http://www.k12.wa.us/ESEA/AdequateYearlyProgress.aspx , changes to AYP for 2007.
