How are the responsibilities of the Chief Constable different to the Police Authority?
There is a local partnership between the Police Authority and the Chief Constable. The Chief Constable is responsible for day-to-day policing, the direction and control of all police officers and support staff. The Chief Constable is, however, accountable to the Police Authority for policing in Northamptonshire.
