How are the research centres governed…what does the programme council do?
• The hosting university establishes a position and hires a director for each HIT Lab UK research centre. The director moderates a council (i.e. the programme council) of the principal investigators who are participating in the research activities of the centre. The director and the council of PIs make the day-to-day decisions in operating the laboratory, selecting other PIs, where to spend the funding etc.
