The XTR2 utilizes a Rear Mid-engine, Rear-wheel drive layout. The Hayabusa engine is mounted transversely in the rear of the XTR2 and power is applied through a purpose-built chain drive into a Quaife Torque biasing LSD. From this point, drive shaft assemblies transfer the power to each rear wheel.
