How are the radar guns that officers have today calibrated?

Answer Radar units (guns is politically incorrect) are calibrated at the factory on a prescribed schedule of maintainence, or if the unit its not working properly. The tuning forks are used to assure that the unit is reading properly at the time of use prior to going out and at end of watch. This is only for the K and X band radar units. Laser units are checked by an internal system and not by using tuning forks. They are calibrated also at the factory.
