How are the Quartile Rankings calculated?
Quartile rankings are a measure of how well a fund has performed against all other funds currently tracked by our system. In particular, funds are ranked by asset class. The rankings range from 1 to 4 for all time periods covered. Mutual funds with the highest percent returns are assigned a quartile of 1, whereas those with the worst returns are assigned a quartile of 4. Quartile rankings are compiled by sorting the funds by one-year return. Funds in the top 25% are assigned a quartile ranking of 1, the next 25% are assigned a ranking of 2, and so forth.
