Each “game” is 60 minutes long. The first 30 minutes is devoted to “skills and drills”, taught by trained instructors. The second half of the hour is devoted to playing. Each player is guaranteed to play at least half of that time. There are no scores or standings kept for these divisions. Goalies are NOT used. How are the 3rd, 4th 5th, 6th , 7th/8th, 9th /10th/11th grade games structured? These games are officiated by paid, certified referees and run from 40 to 50 minutes, depending on the division. Each player is guaranteed to play at least half the game, regardless of ability or attendance at previous games or practices. Why are the 1st grade -12th grade games being played on smaller fields with fewer players on the field? Smaller teams on smaller fields are a nationwide trend. It helps develop better foot skills and allows more touches with the ball for every player. These team sizes are our goal. We may have to adjust team sizes to handle the number of players that are signed up.
