How are the odds calculated on ZEturf?
The odds on ZEturf are “probable winnings”: they show what would the winnings be at time t, with a given horse, if the bets close at that time..and if the horse wins. These odds only show the potential winnings for the Single – Win bet, they are only calcaluted with the Single – Win bet as a basis. The odds change according to the stakes made by the punters. On ZEturf, they change and are updated every 60 secondes. That is the reason why they can still change during one minute after the bets are closed: the last update is made. Two columns are displayed in the “odds” heading: “morning”: they are the odds fixed at 11.30 a.m. They show the tendency of the bets in advance. “live”: these odds are updated until the bets are closed. On ZEturf and elsewhere, the punters increasingly bet late. As a consequence, the “morning bets” does not always reveal the preferences of the punters. With the odds, you can calculate the “distribution rate”, which is the stakes shared out between the punters. I
