How are the MicroCard and Minicard lists sorted?
MicroCards can be sorted alphabetically (default), or by relevance. The sorting options are set in the search box on the GeneCards homepage. MiniCards are sorted by relevance. The relevance score is essentially based on the number of lines in the card’s text file (as shown in the MiniCards) that contain the search term. Within the same relevance score (e.g. match via 1 field) there is no significance to the (alphabetic) order in which they are presented. For example: AVPR2 is the gene located at the top of the MiniCard list received for the keyword search for DIABETES. This gene matches the search term in many GeneCards fields (e.g. gene description, aliases, omim, swissport, etc.), whereas genes at the bottom of the MiniCard list match DIABETES only in the literature field.
