How are the metrics going to be used?
• The metrics will be used by the hotel’s corporate customers in three ways: 1) To help quantify the environmental footprint from the hotel component of their business travel, allowing them to fulfill their regulatory and stakeholder reporting obligations; 2) To quantify the environmental footprint of meeting and event bookings; and 3) To identify hotels that qualify under green travel, meeting and event procurement standards. The Green Hotels Global program also provides hotel management personnel an industry standardized environmental tool to track carbon emissions, water use and waste production and the strategy to reduce those environmental impacts.
