How are the IP address counts determined?
All IP addresses that send traffic on the campus backbone are eligible to be counted, however the actual IP address count comes from border traffic. Housing & Residential Services gives us their estimated number of IP addresses that will be used during the course of the current year, which we verify against their allocated address space. We are not billing the individual addresses behind NAT boxes, because there is no data available regarding the number of systems behind the NAT boxes.
