How are the Iowa Tests/ITED different from other achievement tests, such as the California Achievement Tests (CAT) or the Stanford Achievement Tests (SAT)?

A. There are several reasons we have elected to offer the Iowa Tests as our preferred achievement test. All three of these tests are the nationally standardized achievement tests that are timed, workbook, multiple choice tests. The Iowa Tests advantages lie in the fact that, 1.) It is cheaper than the other tests, 2.) The Iowa can be administered across wider groups of children than the SAT, 3.) There are additional unnecessary restrictions placed on users of the SAT that do not hinder Iowa Testers, and 4.) The Iowa Tests evaluate higher order thinking skills while the CAT tests rely more heavily on rote memory.
