How are the house staff supervised on call?
• The NICU on-call team is comprised of a PL-1 or PL-2 and an in-house fellow or attending. At Miller Children’s Hospital, the resident takes call with an in-house fellow or attending. • • The PICUs are staffed by PL-2’s or PL-3’s and are backed up by critical care attendings. • • The PL-2 or PL-3 in the ER is supervised by the Emergency Department faculty who are in-house at all times. • • Attending physicians from all pediatric services are readily available either in-house or by phone 24 hours a day. • • In addition, residents have access to computers for medical searches 24 hours a day at both sites.
