The HDF is a 501(c) 3; contributions to the HDF are, therefore, tax-deductible. The HDF has annual audits and files their Form 990 in California and New York. The Foundation operates with a 15 person Board of Directors; Nancy Wexler, daughter of Milton Wexler, serves as President of the Board. Carl Johnson is the foundation’s Executive Director for Science. In addition to Carl, they have 4 full time staff (including a Controller). A Finance Committee (of the board) reviews monthly and quarterly reports with the Controller; and a Development Committee meets several times a year to review fundraising strategy. Most importantly, the HDF has an unpaid Scientific Advisory Board made up of 29 distinguished scientists from around the world. Biographies for Nancy, Carl and Scientific Advisory Board members are included below.
