How are the generated tournament matrix forms fair and balanced? What is the logic behind their design?
We have spent many hours making sure that the generated matrix forms are designed to be fair to all teams. We have worked very closely with Bro. Bobby Long, the North American Junior Bible Quizzing Director, to make certain that the BQTournament generated matrices match the logic that he has used in designing matrices for district and national Bible Quiz tournaments. Below is a summary of our logic in the matrix form design. • All byes occur at the beginning of each bracket. Doing this helps ensure that the teams in trophy range have earned the right to be there. • There are the same number of games (or one more if an odd number of teams) in the top half of a bracket as in the bottom half. This balanced design is ideal for multiple session tournaments, and evenly spreads out any bye games. • Teams that played in the top half of round 1 will play in the bottom half of round 2 (unless this is a single session tournament).
