To take the GED a person must be eighteen years old or, under certain circumstances, a seventeen-year-old may qualify. The GED tests measure a student’s knowledge in five content areas including: English Language Arts & Reading; Writing; Mathematics; Science; and Social Studies. The tests are given in English, Spanish, and French throughout the United States and in Canada . A High School Equivalency Certificate is issued. For more information on the GED, contact your local adult school, community college. Test certification only requires three content areas: English Language Arts & Reading; Writing; and Mathematics, with a much younger minimum eligible age of 16 years old and students having passed the Test, may accelerate with advanced placement as a University student into taking earlier University under-graduate college courses at a much younger age of at least 16 years old.
