In year one each student will study four modules: Technological Science (which includes mathematics); Design for Function; Economics and Structure of Industry; and an option. The design module will take a project – or problem – based approach to teaching, in which each student will undertake four significant projects selected from the list offered. The range of projects or problems specified in all the core modules will allow the application of theory to a situation or problem related to your degree interest, for example Civil Engineering students might undertake a project to conceptually design a Light Rail Transit system whilst Electronic Engineering students consider the design of instrumentation and monitoring systems for sheltered housing.
