We chose to base our discipline codes on the Classification of Instructional Programs which is used by Statistics Canada. The codes that are not preceded by hyphens in the dropdown menu are the top level codes; the ones with hypens are subcodes. You can select either. If you pick a top level code, your search results will automatically include all subcodes in that category.
