A. It is important to recognize that CPIP policies are settled using a weekly provincial average price. This average price is calculated based on a large sample of steer and heifer sales during the week. A considerable effort has gone into constructing settlement indices that are rigorous and that producers can count on being a fair reflection of Alberta cattle prices and basis levels.
