How are the CPG competencies aligned with OPMs general and technical competencies for the new IT Management Series?
When the CPG was developed, an effort was made to match the competencies included in the CPG with the OPM general and technical competencies (specifically for the new IT Management Series). In fact, the CPG Career Foundational competencies are based on the OPM general competencies and include a few more, especially in the Knowledge Focus area. The CPG Career Area technical competencies include the OPM technical competencies, but because of the CPG’s inherently governmental emphasis, are much broader. Because of this, the OPM competencies map to either the technical competency or skill topic level.
