How are the Colloquium sections established, and who decides which section my student will be in?

The Office of Academic Advising uses the academic interests expressed on students’ applications to Linfield to place students into Colloquium sections. Each section is made up of about twenty students with similar academic or co-curricular interests. Since nearly a quarter of the incoming class is undecided about a major, and since many students change their mind several times about what they are interested in before they even come to campus, Colloquium groups are often a mix of students who are exploring a variety of disciplines.
