How are the bridge segments connected?
A. A two-part epoxy is applied to the adjoining faces and acts as a lubricant that allows the segments to slide together. The epoxy also provides a watertight joint between segments. The bridge segments are connected together by post-tensioning tendons (a bundle of high-strength strands or cables) through ducts cast-in the segments. The tendons apply a force to squeeze the segments together.
