How are the articles in AAP News selected?

AAP News is managed within the American Academy of Pediatrics’ Division of Medical Journals & Professional Periodicals, and edited and written by professional journalists. Each month, management, editors, and physicians gather to review the upcoming story list for each issue. Editorial board members are also queried as needed, and frequently offer story ideas. These story ideas are fleshed out in the monthly story conference, and then assigned to journalists, many of whom have medical credentials. Breaking news is handled via an expedited process. Every article is reviewed by at least one member of the AAP’s Executive Committee.
