In the words of Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez who fled with his family from Cuba when he was six years old: What I found was that people are very receptive to the idea of comprehensive immigration reform. When they think about it, they talk through it; they ask questions, as opposed to just getting very emotional. If we could just set aside the emotions and think about what is the best thing for our country and work out the details, we can come up with comprehensive reform. The Founding Fathers of our country created documents that have withstood the test of time. There was no way that they could have anticipated the many social issues that have defined American life in the past few decades and yet their insights into freedom and liberty still guide us.
