How are the academic modules assessed?
[c] Most modules are assessed formally by 3 termly tests (including an oral test), done under examination conditions, and an end of year examination. All undergraduate modules have a Credit weighting (CATS – Credit Accumulation and Transfer Scheme). General language modules can be taken as 24 or 30 CATS. Certain courses (courses tailor-made for specific departments) have a single CATS weighting is agreed with the department in question. At the end of the module, your examination marks are sent to your department. It is their responsibility to give you your final mark after your results have been discussed at the relevant departmental and Faculty Examination Board. Full descriptions of the contents and details of the assessment schemes can be found on each course description page.
