How are tests helpful to students, parents and teachers?
Tests provide a measure of how well students are learning. As we set high standards for what we want our students to know and be able to do, good tests are tools that help gauge student progress against those standards. While not the only measure of achievement, test results can help parents better understand where their children are succeeding and where they need extra help. Tests are also an important teaching and learning tool. Given during the course of a school year, for example, classroom tests can provide teachers with valuable information to help them adjust their teaching practice, for individual students and for the class as a whole.
