How are TCS and the WVA organized?
TCS is presented as series of DVD lectures by Mr. Andrews. In them he covers context and authorship and the five elements of fiction. It is comparable to Teaching Writing: Structure and Style (TWSS) in that he is seeking to train the teacher in how to teach her/his students the basics of literary analysis. The WVA is structured similarly, with DVD presentations supplemented with a written summary of the material taught. For both products, students may watch along with the teacher, but the true learning is done as both teacher and students apply the principles presented in the DVDs. Both books contain a list of Socratic questions; those in TCS are appropriate to helping the reader understand the material read, while the WVA list centers around delving into the worldview of the author and his work, and answering the fundamental question of “Does this story tell the Truth?
