How are Summer School units taught?
Most Summer School units are taught face-to-face on campus, in an intensive format. Units may be taught in either a block format or over a period of 4-5 weeks. Block units tend to involve classes every day for one or two weeks, sometimes lasting up to 7 hours per day. Other units will have regular classes 2 or 3 times per week, for 4 or 5 weeks. Classes may incorporate a mix of lectures, tutorials and practicals, depending on the unit. Students are expected to start revision and preparation reading as soon as the Summer School period starts on 17 December 2010. Units which are offered externally (in distance intensive mode) may be taught by means of CDs, notes and/or online material, with one or more Summer School Units intensive on-campus sessions. If an external unit has a formal examination it will be held at Macquarie University North Ryde campus only. Material for external units will be sent to students who have applied or enrolled by the 3 December closing date in time for them t
