How are students supervised in internships? Do they have a faculty adviser as part of the experience?
Ideally, supervisors serve as mentors in all internships. Cooperative education (known as co-op jobs) is the most structured internship model, a three-party arrangement among the university, employer, and student. A training plan is developed providing practical experience to complement the student’s academic or career objectives; a faculty adviser is in contact with the work supervisor to guide the experience.
