All students were given practice problems in calculating a science grade. Students were supposed to show this assignment to their parents and explain the grading system to them. Basically, every assignment is worth a designated amount of points. Student grades are calculated by adding up the total points earned and dividing that score by the total points possible. Tests and projects, of course, are worth considerably more points than a simple homework assignment.
