How are students advanced to the next belt level?

Each student is evaluated three times between each belt exam to ensure the basic skills are being learned before the final belt exam is offered. During the final belt exam each student is required to perform all of the material learned for that belt level. The exam will be performed for black belt instructors, who will evaluate the student for knowledge and skill. At that time the instructor will offer a critique of the student’s performance, with comments on things to improve in future classes. Look here for more details on belt requirements.
