How are skirting heating systems powered?
Skirting heating systems can be powered by a variety of means, for example “wet systems” using water or other liquids such as glycol heated by gas, oil, wood-chip or even electric boilers or solar tubes or heat pumps. There are even electric versions powered by direct electric heating of resistance elements rather like immersion heater elements. These are typically used where it is impractical or impossible to install a wet system – for example in mobile homes or small apartments – or where there is an abundance of inexpensive electrical power available. There are two main types of skirting heating to be found on the market today, broadly categorised as radiant or convector. Radiant Skirting Heating A radiant skirting heating system will usually consist of extruded sections with piping as either an integral part of the extrusion or closely attached to the front panel extrusion. Heated liquid or electrical heating elements run through the piping to produce heat which warms up the extrus
