How are singers judged?
The criteria for judging was hammered out between Ric Gold (Australia’s manager) and KWCUSA, and our hosts. In short, male and female singers are seperately graded from 0 to 10 points on each of the following: • Entertainment value. • Intonation and pitch control. • Expression. • Tempo and rhythm. • Stage presence. …for each song they sing. Then, each judge, ranks the singers using whole numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. based upon contestants scores. These rankings by each judge are then transfered to a summary sheet. They are totaled and the contestant with the best ranking (the lowest number) is declared the first place finalist, followed by second and third place in like fashion. This system (of ranking based upon scores) removes any scoring variance between judges.
