How are scantron sheets used?
In tandem with an optical mark reader (OMR scanner) or an image scanner, scantron sheets have many uses. Education, business and government have all come to depend on them for speed and accuracy in data collection. Once designed and printed, some of their applications are: tests, answers sheets, assessments, evaluation forms such as teacher evaluations or course evaluations, community and consumer surveys, questionnaires, forms to track inventory and sales, etc. For example, due to its extremely low error rate, low cost and ease-of-use, optical mark recognition is a popular method of tallying votes. Once scantron forms are filled out, they are then read by either an optical mark recognition machine or imaging scanner using data collection software especially designed for electronic, machine-readable data capture. Data applications include scoring, reporting, analysis, and exporting to different file formats.
