How are RUBs bills calculated?
Ratio utility billing (RUBs) allocates a portion of the overall water bill to residents based on an estimate of water usage per occupant. RUBs calculations start with the master-metered bill amount from the utility provider. Amounts used by common areas such as pools, landscaping and common laundry facilities are subtracted. An occupancy-based formula is applied to each unit, and the net utility expense is proportionally allocated among the resident’s units.
