How are rotation assignments made?
A key function within PEMS (Pharmacy Education Management System) is “the spin,” a randomization process which gives all students an equal opportunity to match with their site and geographic zone preferences. The Office of Experiential Education coordinates assignments overall. The office reviews the rotation assignments to insure that each student has received a rotation schedule which meets all curricular requirements.
After meeting with all Psychology staff during orientation week, interns select their rotations by individual discussions with their preceptors. Postdocs meet with supervisors during the first month and develop an individualized training plan with their preceptor. Since we have a large staff and most rotations can handle more than one trainee at a time, everyone has managed to get what they want doing it this way for the past 15 years!
