How are roommates assigned if I did not request a specific roommate?
If you did not request a roommate, you were assigned a roommate based on the preferences you listed on your Housing & Meal Plan Application. We focused on two key areas (study environment & smoking v. non smoking). While smoking is prohibited in all residence halls on campus, many times residents prefer not to be roommates with someone who smokes (outside of the building) because the smell of cigarettes can be carried back into the suite/room via the smokers clothing or person.
