How are roommate disputes handled at Stout?
At the start of the year, we distribute the Roommate Starter (PDF – Requires free Adobe Acrobat Reader) to all students and encourage roommates to take time to discuss it with each other. Many conflicts arise as a result of miscommunication, and the Roommate Starter helps to alleviate that. If a dispute happens, we have Resident Advisors (RAs) on each floor who can either individually coach each roommate on how to talk with each other, or who can sit down with both people and help mediate the conflict.
