How are research projects characterized?

0

The NCI Common Scientific Outline (CSO) is used to characterize research projects. • The CSO is a classification system organized around seven broad areas of scientific interest in cancer research: • Biology • Etiology (causes of cancer) • Prevention • Early detection, diagnosis, and prognosis • Treatment • Cancer control, survivorship, and outcomes research • Scientific model systems The CSO is further subdivided into 38 subcategories. The CSO is helping lay the framework for better coordination among research organizations, making it easier to compare and coordinate public, private, national, and international cancer research efforts. In addition, all research projects will be mapped to the Pancreatic Progress Review Group (PRG) recommendations. Please refer to the Common Scientific Outline and the Pancreatic Progress Review Group (PRG) Recommendations pages for more information.
