This was selected as Best Answer Hi Tom, The negative issues surrounding “Cold Calling” usually stem from the individual doing the calling. If a recruitment business operates like a commodity trader, then ultimately the call made will be very much an “I must get my point across about my services/candidates/news item” etc and not a conversation at all. It is much better to focus on your desired response to the call, constantly thinking to speak with a client/candidate rather than talk at them! Some businesses operate as high-volume placement machines, churning out CV after CV. If that is the case then, in their eyes, cold calling is about getting there point across (usually a candidates details) no matter what the consequences. Other businesses operate at a much closer level to potential customers and candidates, and therefore benefit from actually wanting to have “conversations” with individual businesses about their needs. It is better to offer advice that could assist, say, an HR Man
