Traditionally, sellers always have paid Ontario real estate commissions and fees. But a sudden surge in market activity and major changes looming on the horizon threaten to set the tradition on its ear. Kymberleigh Moses, real estate analyst at Patterson-Forbes Partners, reports, The Canadian Real Estate Association offers sellers a standard listing and sales agreement which stipulates they will pay between five and six percent commission to the listing agent, Moses says, but we have been seeing an exceptionally high volume of modified agreements tailored to sellers` and agents` special needs.
