The Goethals Bridge Replacement Environmental Impact Statement (GBR EIS) process is currently at the stage of evaluating four alternatives. Therefore, potential right-of-way and property impacts have not been finalized. Descriptions of the four project alternatives are found in project Newsletter #5 and in a presentation. The Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) will include detailed evaluations of the environmental impacts of these four alternatives, including impacts to local properties. The USCG held open houses in October 2008, prior to the publication of the DEIS. Once the DEIS is published, which is anticipated in Spring 2009, public meetings will be held and there will be a period of time for the public to review the document and submit comments to the Coast Guard. All comments will be considered prior to identifying a preferred project alignment. A preferred alignment will be identified in the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS).
