How are postage and packaging fees calculated?
We have spent a long time researching and developing packing methods and materials to ensure that artwork arrives in perfect condition. Packing materials consist of tissue paper, extra think bubble wrap and a tough outer cardboard carton. To help the environment and to keep shipping costs to a minimum, quality recycled cardboard is used where possible. Packing material costs £2-3. Couriers calculate the rates based on the size of the package (many of our works are large in size) this is known as volumetric weight. The actual weight of a canvas is around 5kg. However, the volumetric weight is around 17kg. £8-10 (UK mainland Standard 2-4 day service). There is a fine art to packaging and to do it well takes some time and effort .Typically an additional handling and admin fee of £2 is added. Total £15.
