How are parking permit funds used at Penn State Behrend?
The money generated from selling student, faculty, and staff parking permits is used to construct new parking lot, maintain existing parking lots, and administer the parking program. The cost of building new parking lots is funded by borrowing money and paying the loan off over time. The loan, or debt service, must be paid using parking permit fees. Parking lot maintenance has included repainting parking lot lines, repaving parking lots, and upgrading lighting. Costs associated with administering the parking program include purchasing the hanging permits, software to track permit sales and parking tickets, and handheld computers used in the issuing of parking tickets. parking permit sales DO NOT support personnel costs within Police Services or any other department.
