How are new sports and disciplines considered for inclusion of the sports programme?
Regulation 6 of the CGF’s Constitution outlines the factors and criteria that are considered before recommendations are made to the General Assembly of the Commonwealth Games Federation where affiliated Commonwealth Games Associations (CGAs) decide if a new event or sport can be considered for the sports programme. This process ensures that any sports and events within the Commonwealth Games maintain high standards of excellence and pan Commonwealth participation. These factors and criteria include, but not limited to, participation levels within the Commonwealth, excellence, equity, marketability and expense.
