How are neighboring districts addressing the aging condition of their school buildings?
Most of the school districts in our surrounding communities have faced the challenges of adapting aging buildings to a 21st century curriculum. Over 90% of our surrounding school districts have voted on bond proposals in recent years. New facilities, major upgrades and expansions are, or have been, taking place in virtually every district around us. The Board of Education concluded that Swartz Creek Community Schools needed to enhance its school facilities to succeed in this competitive environment, as well as retain both Swartz Creek students and staff. The average millage rate for combined building and site and debt retirement in Genesee County School Districts = 4.22. Swartz Creek is ranked 20 of 21 districts followed only by Flint.
