How are monotheistic religions violent?
One of the problems with a monotheistic religion is because it is monotheistic. As far as the practcioners of the religion are concerned, their way is the only possible way. Anyone else is at best misled, and at worst downright evil. This hubris easily leads to the idea that anything you do to anyone of any different religion is okay because they are not as good in the eyes of their pet deity than themselves. It is the old story of “I am right, therefore everyone else is wrong”, which leads to “Since everyone else is wrong, I have a duty to correct them for their own good…no matter what it takes.” The Abrahamic religions are particularly aggressive in this regard. They consider anyone not of their brand of faith (often exclusively their specific subsect…the Abrahamic religious subsects can regard one another just as “alien” as non-Christians/Muslims, Jews) as competition or enemies because as far as they are concerned there is only room for one omnimax deity/mythology.
